Job hunting and Doc visits.

Hey Everyone! I can't believe that Christmas is already here and then it will be a new year! Thats so crazy! Time has just flown by! Since i wrote last, I finished up with school at the U of U dec. 17 and should have my deploma mailed to me in the next little bit. I graduated with a BA in history and haven't 100% decided if i wanna teach with it yet. I signed up the other day with Granite district to try subing to see if i would like being a teacher. Haven't heard from them yet, so we shall see. Also gonna try signing up with canyons district too since thats closer to where i live. I have also been applying for jobs this month since i can work more being done with school. I am unable to work full time as an Ortho assistant for my dad, so i need a second job. I really HATE job hunting, but i know its necessary. Hopefully i find something that pays decent since Nick and I have a house to worry about. Also, yesterday i went for an MRI to try and figure out what is causeing the horrible migraines i get a few times a week. I know its better if they find nothing, but i sorta hope something small is there that will be the cause of my probs and an easy fix. If not then its a continuing line of elimination to figure out what the problem is and taking preventative meds to try and help me have less a week. I hate that i have to take something everyday and hope its not for the rest of my life. The MRI went well and was pretty easy, the only clitch being when they tried to do the IV in my right arm, my vein immediately collapsed (which is a nice sore bruise now) and so they had to try the left. That worked, but it left both arms nice and sore yesterday. Man do i hate IVs, haha... should get the results in a few days and so i will try to post an update. Thats really all for now. Sorry about no pics, i got them on facebook and then got to lazy to do it again. Haha.... Until next time, Hope everyone has a great Christmas!! :D

The first Month. :)

Hey everyone! Nick and I have been married for one month today and its been great! Our honeymoon was a cruise to the Western Caribbean and it was amazing! We stopped in the Grand Caymans, Cozumel, and Belize. We sadly had to miss our last port due to rough waters from a hurricane. In the Grand Caymans we went snorkeling and swam with sting grays. It was so cool! we got to hold one and get pictures with it! In Belize we visited Mayan ruins and we got to climb to the top of one. It was amazing and so cool to see something so ancient. In Cozumel we just walked around and looked in shops. It was fun just hanging out on the ship as well and having all you can eat ice cream 24/7. Chocolate-strawberry swirl was my favorite. :) Now that we are home, we are living in Draper in his parents basement for a year while we rent out our own house. It has been good so far, and though it has taken a bit of adjusting to, to think of it now as home and my old house as my parents house, everything else has been going really well. Haha having to get up and extra 20 min for the drive is a bit hard, but hasnt been to bad. I am excited we already get to have a Christmas as a married couple so soon. I will try to upload pics sometime next week of the wedding and honeymoon. I can't this week because i am studying for a final. So ya, married life is going well so far and i will blog again with pics soon hopefully. :)

Ready to be Married!

Hey everyone! Getting in one last post before the wedding! lol. So i got the sign in books done and they got them sent to me in like 2 days even though it was suppose to take longer. It was awesome! We ordered two because my mom wanted one for herself. haha..... Also, got the pictures we ordered for the reception picked up and have begun wrapping candy bars in cute custom wrappers to use as the favor people can take when they leave the reception. Has been a family affair, with everyone helping, which has been great! I also got all the dance songs picked yesterday as well as got pretty much all packed for my honeymoon. Have a few more boxes and stuff to take to Nicks as well, which im doing tomorrow. It is really great that everything is coming together so wonderfully! It will be so great to be finally married and return to normal life. Haha.... So excited for my wedding day and so glad the day is almost here! :D Will try to blog again after the honeymoon with awesome pics!

Another check on my To-Do list!

Hey everyone! Haha wedding plans have been so crazy now that its so close, so quite a bit of time has passed yet again since my last post. Ok so since i last wrote, i have been able to tick a bunch more stuff off my to-do list. I compiled a list of everyone we were inviting, and then picked up all the invites. I have gotten them all addressed and sent, which is so great to have done! I also went with Nick on Oct. 19 ( the day my bff got home from her mission in Chile!) and we got our marriage license. I also finally got my endowment session scheduled and found a date for my ward bridal shower. : )
Around the 2rd week in Oct. i had my bridal picture session, which went great! There are so many amazing pics to choose from to show at the reception! Haha not sure how i can narrow it down! (Though i am actually working on doing just that this week and need to have the list to the photographer by this weekend.) Oh i also finished getting all the pics of me and Nick for the montage as well as selecting the music that i want to go with it, as well as getting it delivered to Pete (my photographer). I have ordered all my flowers as well (which are going to look so amazing, and got the menu for the reception all ordered as well.
Also, i got all the bridesmaid dresses altered, including Sadie's, though she didn't get home til the 19. The lady did an amazing job and was so fast, which is great because then i didn't worry about getting them in time. Haha the only thing i'm really worried about now, is if i took to long in finally ordering the photo sign in book and if it can be done and shipped in just 2 weeks...Hopefully it can or there is someway to rush order it. Either way, i definitely need to get that done asap! I also still need to decide on all the music i want for the half hour of dancing. Not to worried about that though cause it only takes like 5 min to make a wedding play-list and load it on an ipod. So thats what ive accomplished in oct. I will try if i can to update again before the wedding to let you all know how everything came together! : D

More wedding stuff accomplished!

Ok so since i last posted, a few more big things have been done. First, we finally got the little flower girl dresses picked and ordered and everything. I have two flower girls; my friend Jessica's little girl Phoebe, who is almost 2 and then my soon-to-be little niece Kylie, who is 7. We all met (me, my mom, Kylie, her mom Stacey, Jessica, and Phoebe) at David's Bridal at noon on a Saturday to have the girls try on the dresses i had seen when at Davids another time. They are ivory to match my dress, silk on the top half with a silk slip as the bottom layer, with about 3 or 4 layers of gauzy material on top of that. It makes them very poofy and remind be of ballet tutus, but not quite THAT poofy. I think they are super aborable! They are also going to have black sashes around their waists that end in a big bow on the back, as well as be wearing black shoes. Kylie will also get to wear a tiara and Phoebe will have cute black flowery clips in her hair, because she is to young for a tiara. I am so excited to see the girls in everything on my wedding day! They will be so stinking cute! : D I am really sorry, but i totally spaced on taking pics as they tried them on. That will have to wait til i pick them up.
I have also finally begun to get my count of how many people i think we are going to be inviting and getting address from everyone. Haha i know its a teeny bit late in the game since they are suppose to be sent out next week since you send invites out about a month before the wedding. I have no idea where all my time suddenly went! lol. My mom and i also finally got the invitation ordered today as well. haha... Lucky in the digital age, they can get them all printed and ready in like 4-6 days, so we should be fine. Definitley cutting it close, i know, but we will make it! I am so excited to get the invitations, because i love the design we picked and the pictures we chose, and can't wait to see how it all comes together!
I have also had a few showers as well, both of which were so great! I got some amazing gifts that will definitely come in handy in Nick and I's new life together. I also have finally found a date that works for my ward's bridal shower and am finally going this thurs with Nick to pick out what wedding ring he would like. I am super excited for that! : ) And, i finally made an appointment with Heritage Gardens to come finalize my menu, as well as getting my Bridesmaid dresses in last week. I am super lucky because 2 won't even need any alteration, which is really great! Haha so ya, that is all the wedding stuff that has been going on since i last wrote! I will blog again once i get more things ticked off my To-Do list! :)

Engagement pics done!! :)

In my post last week, i talked not only about my cake, but also that i had engagement pictures coming up. We got them done over the weekend and we had a blast! We ended up not being able to do the pictures on Thurs because of the weather, so we had to reschedule them. He couldn't do Fri and we couldn't do Sat, so we ended up doing them on Sun, Sept. 12. We kept them at the Jordan International Peace Gardens, which is were we planned on doing them Thurs, and met at 4 o'clock. It was the perfect day for pictures! It was in the 80's, sunny, and not windy at all. Our photographer Pete was hilarious! He kept joking around and being silly to make us laugh and was very laid back and fun and super easy to talk to and get along with. He had tons of great ideas but also asked for our input and if we had any poses we would like to try. We didn't really have any ideas of our own and were fine going along with the great ideas that he had.  It was so fun and made me so excited to get to start designing the invitations! I can't wait until Pete has the pictures finished and gives them to us! I am so excited to see how they all look! :D

The Official Cake!!

Hello everyone! So as i said in my last blog, i had a meeting with the Heritage Gardens cake lady last Monday, Sept. 6. I went with my mom and we met with her at Heritage Gardens at 10 am.  We were shown into her office and told she would be right with us. While we waited, we were given some books to look through with tons of different cake designs. I was certain i already knew what i wanted, but decided to look through them anyway, just for fun. In the 2nd book i found a vintage styled cake with draped lace on it, made from fondant. I immediately fell in love with it and felt that it fit my dress perfectly. When Cindy came in, she first went over flavors. I kept with the flavors i had been thinking of, which was: Red velvet for the top tier, Key lime for the second tier, and Snickerdoodle for the bottom tier. I am also sticking with the square twisted look that i had liked from the start, (and previously posted a picture of.)  When she asked what design, I decided i wanted to go with the vintage lace design instead of the design i had thought i wanted. I don't plan on using the flowers that were shown in the design pic, because they don't match my colors and weren't a huge hit with me anyways. Not sure yet what i'll put on instead, but i have a few ideas. :)

More things checked off my To-Do list!

All right, so i decided to do a little update blog on how some before mentioned wedding plans are finally progressing.  Today i finally called the temple to change our sealing time from 12:20 to 11:40. We realized when we finally sat down and wrote out an outline as to how the day was going to go, that we may want to give ourselves just a bit more time in case pictures go a bit longer, or something like that. We have been talking about for quite a few weeks now but just kept forgetting to call. I made sure that i got it done this morning before i did anything else. I also finally called the lady who does the wedding cakes through Heritage Gardens to set up and appointment to see her cake designs and test one more time the cake flavors i have picked to make 100% sure they are the ones i want. We will meet with her on monday at 10 am and i am super excited to get the cake finally done with so it can be checked off my list. lol. I am also super excited because Nick and I have our engagement pics session this thursday at 5:30. I am super excited to finally being doing engagement photos. This should be so much fun! I am also pretty sure that i have finally settled on which photo booth company i wanna use, and will let you know which one it is once i have officially booked them. Haha cause you never know, i could change my mind since its not 100% made up yet. ; ) I will blog again thursday or friday after the photo session and let you know how everything went. ttyl!

We finally registered!

Nick and I have finally gone and registered! Haha we have been saying for the last little bit that we should, but it just never got done. This week, we finally got it accomplished. On moday (the 23rd) Nick came over and as we were deciding what we should do that night, he suggested we finally get our wedding registering done. So we decided to start with Bed, Bath, and Beyond and promptly drove over there. We were kindlt directed to the wedding section at the back of the store, where we were met by a kind older woman named Janet. She was so sweet and very helpful and got us all signed up and ready. Once that was done she gave us the gun, and after explaining some tips she has learned from years of helping couples do this, we were off. We had arrived at the store around 8 pm so, though me got most of it done, we did completely finish registering. Janet let us stay until like 9:30 even though the store closed at 9. She was so amazing! On Thurs. i get out of school at 1:45 and Nick happened to have the day off, so we decided to finish registering then. We went first to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and finished registering there. It only took about 30 min to finish up. We then decided to go and register at Target as well. This time it went much faster since we had now done it before. It feels so great to have that 100% done now and out of the way. I am excited to now move on to to other important steps in the wedding planning process. : )

New kitchen floor!

Haha again, this isn't wedding plan related, but i felt it should be put up. I just remembered that i had a couple pictures of the new floor that was done in Nick and I's house, so i decided to post them so you could all see the tile work that was done. I wish i had a before picture because the difference is amazing! I am so happy with the tile. It looks awesome. :D

This is our cute kitchen. We redid the floor from linoleum to tile!

A close up of the new tile. :) I love the color and pattern!!

Dress fitting

On wed. (Aug. 18) I had my first dress fitting. I was super excited! Because my shoes are fairly tall, nothing needs to be done with my hem which is nice. The major thing that needs to be done, is that the jacket that came with my dress is shear, and because i am going to wearing garments once im married, i have to get the jacket lined. They are also making it so the dress can have a bustle on the back, so that i can pull up the train while at the reception. It will take about 8 weeks for all this to be done, so i should get my dress back around Oct. 8th. : ) I am excited to then do my bridals in Oct, because it will look even more like fall then when it just barely starts to in Sept. I can't wait for it to be finished so i can see what it looks liked with a new jacket!

Engagement and Bridal pics!

I am very excited because i have scheduled the date for Nick and I's engagement pictures. I know it may be dorky, but when i was younger, one of the main reason i was excited to someday get married was to get to do engagement pics. I always loved looking at the ones my parents would get, and now I'm so excited that i finally get to do my own! Plus, it will just be super to have tons of professional photos of Nick and I to have forever. We are doing them on Sept. 9 around 5:30 at the Jordan International Peace Gardens, which are super beautiful! Haha now all we have to do is decide on what we are going to wear for the pictures. Ooo decisions, decisions.... Oh ya and on Aug. 7 i also did some early bridals with a family friend; her name is Rachael Nelson She is a great photographer and is now trying to start up her own photography buisness. She needs more pictures for her website, so I agreed to do some bridals with her for fun to help her out. She isn't the photographer i am using for my wedding because i already had someone before i knew she was doing it, but she does an awesome job and i would have gladly used her. We did the pictures at the Capital and i can't wait to see them all once she edits them and sends me a cd. : D It was really great to get to wear my wedding dress already and see how i look in it all done up. It was so fun!

Bridesmaid Stuff :)

So on Thursday i went to Modest By Design and officially ordered all my bridesmaid dress! I am so excited to have that checked off! They will take about 9 weeks to be ready and arrive and should get here on October 1 about. Its perfect timing because it gives plenty of time for any needed alterations, plus my maid of honor Sadie gets home from her mission Oct. 19, with time to spare for any alterations she may need. In case you are wondering or can't remember, the dress i went with is the dress i posted a picture of in an earlier blog, the red one with the black waist, though of course mine won't be red, but green.  I also got the black birdcage veils ordered for them and they should be in around Sept. 6 i believe. I was able to bring one home already, but the others had to be ordered be cause they had no more in stock that day. I know need to decided if i want them to have the same shoes or not really care. I definitely want them all to have black, closed-toe shoes, but i think as to the design and stuff I'll just let them get whatever they want, from where-ever they want. Since they are black and not a color, and black goes with everything, its not really that big of a deal. I'm also thinking i want them to wear simple pearl jewelery (earrings, necklace, and a bracelet) as their accessories. Its still a work in progress with the jewelery though so I'll let ya know when i reach a final verdict. Also, i am meeting with the photographer tonight for all the final signings and deposit, so that will be official taken care of as well. Now onto other important stuff such as the cake! ;)

Got my dress!

I picked up my dress!! Yay!! It came in last week while i was out of town, so yesterday i was able to go and pick it up! I am so excited that i now officially have my dress and that it is in my possession. After hearing stories of dresses being ordered and barely making it in time or not at all, im so glad mine arrived earlier then was even expected. So awesome! : ) While i was at David's Bridal picking up my dress, i was also able to get the black birdcage veils for my bridesmaids. They only had one actually in the store so i got that one and then ordered the other 4, but i was able to get all of them paid for at once which was nice. I also called and officially booked my photographer! I am super happy. We now just need to meet at his studio one more time to finish the paper work and give the deposit and then we can schedule engagements and bridals! woo-hoo! I am glad to have a few more big things out of the way. Its a great feeling. :D

Busy week this coming week!

~Pic of my mom's parent's at their wedding

So this week is exciting because multiple things get to happen. I am going to book my photographer this week, probably tomorrow, and am very excited to have that made nice and official. I am going with Peter McDermon photography, and will most likely do my engagement pictures end of August or start of September and then do my bridals end of September after my dress is altered.  My friend Kate also gave me the great idea of using photos from the weddings of mine and nick's parents and grandparents at the reception since im going with a classic look, and using them would show the styles from the periods that they got married. I love it also because it gives them a feeling of being more involved since they get to contribute something so personal. I also get to go on Thursday and officially order my bridesmaid dress, which im excited to do. I did end up going with the dress that i posted on here and am going to have it emerald green with a black waist. Also, my wedding dress has arrived! I got an email this week saying it was and that i can come sometime to pick it up! I am super excited. While i am picking it up i will probably also buy the black birdcage veils for my bridesmaids as well. I love the feeling of getting more and more things accomplished and set up. :) I am also pretty sure on the cake flavors i want as well, which are: snickerdoodle for the bottom layer, then key lime (which Nick loves) as the middle layer, and then red velvet as the top layer. All 3 are super yummy and not the typical flavors you find in a wedding cake, so should be really fun and super yummy. Oh ya and i also may have finally found a great idea for the top of my cake. My mom's parents still have the cake topper from there wedding, and they said i can use it if i want. Since i am doing a vintage theme, i think that would be perfect! I just have to see if it will fit with the look of the rest of the reception and cake and such. Hope so cause i think its an awesome idea!  I can't wait to see what comes together in my planning next. :D

Vintage theme background! :D

So today i decided that i wanted to put a new background on my blog and i found this awesome vintage background. Since i'm going with a vintage theme for my wedding, i thought that this new background was perfect! I know that it isn't really wedding planning related, but i was really bored and restless after too much tv, so this was what came as a result. Haha....since i hadn't blogged in a bit, i decided to blog on this, because i really love how the background turned out. Oh and actually i do have some wedding related news for everyone. I am very excited because i am meeting with all my bridesmaids tomorrow to have them try on the sample dress and get measured so that we can know everyone's size and get the dresses ordered. I am very excited to see how it looks on everyone! : ) After we are going to go to lunch so it should be a ton of fun! I also still need to get the birdcages for all of them, as well as book my photographer soon. There are tons of other small things as well, which at times can feel a bit overwhelming, but all in all wedding plans are coming along great!

Temple dress and Bridesmaids

I am very excited because i now not only have my wedding dress all picked and bought, but i have also found a temple dress as well. : ) Because my dress has so much lace and beading on it  and also is ivory in color, i needed to have a dress that i could wear in the temple for the actual ceremony. I found the perfect dress as White Elegance after having stopped at Modest by Design to ask about the bridesmaid dress design i like. It is right next door so me and my mom decided to look. It is a simple white dress with a flowy cover piece that splits in the front and back and has vines sewn on, on each side on the top. I loved how it looked and after looking in a few other stores, knew it was the one i wanted. I still need to get the slippers and slip that go with it as well, but may get those from a different store. I also have now asked all the girls i want as my bridesmaids and am going to be having 5 total. I am so glad that they all said yes and am excited that they get to be a part of my wedding. : D  I also hope to get my veil soon as well as the birdcages for my bridesmaids. So thats all for now, ill write again as more plans evolve.

Bridesmaid Dress Idea

I have found a bridesmaid dress that i absolutely love and am pretty sure is the one i want. I will still look around of course since i still have some time before my wedding, but i find myself tending to compare them all back to this one. It is also from Modest by Design which is great because, where before i though i would just end up getting a strapless dress and adding a jacket, i don't have to do that with this dress and it works well for all my bridesmaids. My colors for the dress would be emerald green and then leaving the belted sash around the waist black as an accent. I would then have them wear black shoes as well and probably simple pearls as their adornment. Also, because my dress has a vintage look and feel to it, I am also thinking of wearing a birdcage veil for the reception and some of my bridals and am thinking of having my bridesmaids wear black birdcage veils as their head piece to continue the somewhat 1940's feel of my dress and the bridesmaid dress i found. Its not 100 percent all worked out yet, but thats what i'm thinking so far. : )

The Cake Ideas

Here are pictures of my cake design ideas. The square cake picture shows the twisted square style that i want for my cake and the round cake picture shows the design that i want my cake to look like. Of course my cake with have a wide emerald green bow on each layer, not the black and blue one shown.

The Cake

Ok so i don't actually have the cake purchased or anything yet but i do now know what look and style i want and at least one flavor for sure. I want to have 3 levels on my cake and want each level to be square. I also plan on having the twisted square look, which i find really fun and different but still elegant at the same time.  I plan on having the cake be white with a black design on it and a green ribbon on each level. The bottom level i want to be snickerdoodle with like a cream filling, which i had at a friends wedding and found it so amazing! I'm not sure on the other two yet, but am leaning towards red velvet with raspberry filling for one and then maybe good old chocolate with a yummy filling too for the last one. I also am not quite sure yet what i want on the top of my cake either but luckily i have plenty of time to figure that out. Having flowers on top is always a nice touch or possibly our initials, which is also very cute. Haha im sure i'll figure something out by november. ; )

We have a house...How crazy is that!?

Ok so this one isn't 100% wedding planning related but it will effect Nick and I after we are married so i thought i would put it on anyway because its something people will want to know i think.  Ok so for those who don't know, Nick (who has been a really hard worker his whole life and is great with his money) has been looking try and buy a house since the market went down and it became the perfect time for first time home buyers. Anyway, he had been looking for over 9 months but kept ending up with nothing. He found multiple houses that he liked but they then either were short sale, which makes them almost impossible to get, or he would get out bid. It was making him very frustrated and then he found one up near his parents house in the next over neighborhood. It had been for sale for a year and a half and started at like 320,500 or something around that, and was now clear down at 210,500. It hadn't had any offers on almost a year and even then had only had one before that, which obviously didnt work out.  Nick put and offer in for 200,000 and the bank countered at 208,500. Nick countered again and the bank accepted his offer!! He was able to get it down to 199,500! He will also pay 1500 in closing cost and will have to put down 20,000 as the down payment. I cannot believe at 22 he was able to buy a house! How crazy is that?! It is still a bit unreal to me. haha...
Nick's plan for the house is he wants to rent it out for a year, maybe two though most likely just one while we live in his parents basement. The basement has its own kitchen and everything and would be like our own little apartment. This would allow us to pay off the mortgage AND have renters that are helping pay it off as well, which would then help us to pay it off faster then if we lived in it ourselves right away.  The house is in pretty good condition and will just need some new carpet on the main level as well as new flooring in the kitchen and the backyard will need some tlc as well. lol. After two years, if the market has gone up and prices are higher, Nick then wants to try and sell the house so we can live somewhere lower in the valley and closer to both our works. If not then we will live in it a bit ourselves as well and then see how the market looks. I am excited to see how this all plays out and still can't believe we have a house. : D

I have bought my wedding dress!!

Hey everyone! So on friday i went to The Perfect Dress at 11 to look at wedding dresses. My mother came with me to the appointment and we were given a consultant to help me find the style i liked best. We were there for a couple of hours and i tried on tons of dresses. I had originally thought that i wanted a wedding dress that looked like a yellow dress Belle wears in Beauty and the Beast and though i did find a beautiful dress in that style, i ended up falling in love with a more form fitting style with a trumpet skirt that was cover in tiny lace work and beading. I thought that dress with a crop jacket was perfect and just the dress for me. After we left there my mom suggested we try David's Bridal just for fun. I got there with the mind set i was just trying on dress for fun but would find nothing. Again we got a consultant to help us and after looking through a magazine i showed her the style i liked. She grabbed about 5 dresses for me to try on and the first few were nice but didnt really interest me. Then i got to the 3rd dress. It looked a lot like the dress at The Perfect Dress except there was less bead work on the bottom part of the skirt and it came with a beautiful beaded and lace jacket. The jacket has three-quarter length sleeves and will be perfect for a fall wedding.  The dress was light ivory with a very vintage and antique look and i immediately fell in love with it. I tried on the rest of the dresses and then put that one on again. I kept looking at myself and loving it more and more. The consultant grabbed some beautiful shoes to try with it and they fit perfectly. I was 99% sure i wanted that dress, but still wanted some time to think it over so we made an appointment for 3 the next day to come back.  When we came back on Sat i brought my mom again but also my friend Jessica who is a bridesmaid.  I just tried on the one dress from the day before and loved how i looked in it. Jessica thought it was definitely me and after trying it with different veils and stuff i decided it was the dress that i wanted. I got the shoes that i tried on with it as well. I can't believe i now have my dress!! Its so nice to have another major thing done but still so weird at the same time. I can't wait now to wear my dress for bridal pics and of course my wedding! It is so amazing! Now i can move onto thing like the photographer, cake, flowers, etc! Ill let you all know when more is decided! : D

Forgot to mention... ;)

I just remembered a few things that i want to add that i have in mind as well.  Besides having emerald green, white, and black as the colors, i am also thinking of adding a lighter mint green type color to be an accent to the deeper emerald green. Also, for the bridesmaids i am planning on having them wear dresses that will be emerald green and will have the dress be just past the knees as well. Not sure on the type  or style yet but have an idea in mind. We are also thinking of doing the engagement pics in September so we can have fall colors in those pics as well as for our wedding, though we may also do some in the summer so we have both. Haven't yet settled on a photographer but have been looking around. Heritage Gardens contracts with a photographer that we met with and who seems very nice and showed us tons of great examples for wedding they have done, so that is one idea.  There is also the guy my friend Becky used at her wedding last Aug. who i really liked as well, so we shall see. I also know now that i want a square cake, though no design has been chosen yet. So there is that small update for you, and as i said before, more will come after i try on dresses on friday. : )

Date and reception place are set!

Hello everyone!
Haha ok so i am not only new to the whole blogging thing, but i am terrible at it as well. ; ) I have not posted since the beginning of April. Since i last wrote a few more things have become concrete in my wedding plans.  We have decided on Nov. 10 for the wedding date. We realized that a week day is much cheaper then a weekend for weddings and also that saturdays are one of the busiest days for Nick's familiy's work, so a week day was easier. We had then liked the idea of Nov. 3 for the wedding, but then realized that his brother wouldn't be back from his cruise until Nov. 4, so the 3 was out. Since we liked the idea of doing a wednesday for the wedding, we then picked the 10 and are very happy with the idea of that date. I have officially booked Heritage Gardens as my reception center as well and the down payment has been submited. I am very excited for that because i love it there and think its a beautiful place for my reception. We are also definitely going to get married in the Salt Lake temple but have chosen a specific time for that to occur just yet. Luckly not many people are planning weddings in November at the moment so the day is pretty open right now.  Also, i am going this friday to an appointment (may 21) at The Perfect Dress to try on wedding dresses!! I am super excited and will be going with my mom and possibly Nick's mother as well if she can make it. I have some dresses i found online that i like, so i am going to print them and take them with me so they have idea what i like. It should be a lot of fun and really helpful in helping me find the perfect dress for me. I will let everyone know how it goes after its over. : D  Ooo and for our honeymoon we probably get to go on a cruise, which should be a blast! A cruise sounds like an awesome and fun idea and as long as i have a beach, which on a cruise of course i will, i will be happy. lol  Thats all i really have for right now, but now that my finals are over i will for time to give to wedding planning too so i should be able to keep you better updated!

Starting Ideas

Ok, well since Nick and I are newly engaged there are not a ton of concrete wedding plans yet. I have lots of ideas of what i like for the wedding, but nothing is set just yet.  Nick and I do have a date in mind though.  We both really love the fall and consider it a favorite season, so we have decided that we want to have a fall wedding.  The date that we have in mind right now is November 6th and we want to be married in the Salt Lake temple. Haha i was told October was out of the question because that is hunting season ;) but i hadn't really been considering it anyway since from over a year of dating i already knew what a big deal hunting was to him and his family, haha and my own dad too. lol. Plus my best friend Sadie gets home from her mission early October so its perfect. :) I have a dress in mind already too and know the colors i like as well. I am thinking emerald green, black, and white. I will probably have the bridesmaids dress be green and have started looking at ideas for their dresses. I have a reception center in mind also and a photographer as well but am still looking around. I plan on going to see some reception places this week or next too. I also bought a little planner from Barnes and Noble to help me stay on track and organized. My ring had to be sized too and I'm going through withdawls. Haha... can't wait to get it back. Ok well that's all for tonight, more to come later!

Engaged!!

Ok, so, I'm new to the whole blogging thing, so bear with me. haha...  Well, as most of you may know, I recently got engaged! Im sure many of you want the story so i will start with that.  My family and I went to Baltimore over Easter weekend because my sister had a volleyball tournament there and we invited my fiance Nick (then still just boyfriend of course, lol) to come with us.  On Easter day, in early evening, my mom, brothers Chris and Matthew, Nick and I decided to go see the DC temple and visitor center. My sister had volleyball so couldn't make it and my dad was there so she has some family supporting her.  We went inside the visitor center first to look around and it was while in there that Nick told my mom and matthew what he planning and asked them to take pics and record it. (i had left to go find the fountain to get a drink).  We then went outside and my mom suggested we take pictures in front of the temple because the sun had began to set and it was a beautiful setting.  My mom and Matthew went first and Nick took pictures of them and then had me join them and took a few more.  After that my mom said it was mine and Nick's turn.  We stood together and my mom took a few pictures.  I then began to walk away when Nick stopped and knelt down on both knees, saying his back was acting up again and for me to come back and help him.  So i walked back to him to see what i could do.  Once i reached him, he took both my hands in his, raised up one knee, and pulled a ring out of his pocket.  As i stared at him in total shock, he then asked me to marry him!! I of course said yes, and so now the wedding planning begins! ; D
